Rev. Dr. William B. Stroman,
Sr.
Pastor
Pastor William B. Stroman is a Christian Educator, a Counselor, a Community Leader, a Spiritual Leader in the Christian faith, a catalyst for positive change and is dedicated to teaching the scriptures.
Pastor William B. Stroman attended undergraduate school at the Washington Bible College where he received his B.A. degree. He has done graduate studies at Howard University, American University, George Washington University, Maryland University, and the University of Oklahoma. He received his Masters Degree from Wesley Theological Seminary, American University. Pastor Stroman received his Doctorate of Ministry on May 6, 1996, from Wesley Theological Seminary.
Pastor Stroman received the "Lord's Call" to preach in 1960. He preached his first sermon in July 1968, and was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Pastor Stroman became Pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in March 1980. The church is located at 719 Division Avenue, Northeast.
He is the only son of the late Mr. Boysie Stroman and Mrs. Reather Harrod. He is married to Magnolia Smith Stroman. Pastor and Mrs. Stroman have three children: William, Jr. (a Minister), Steven and Leontine J. Watson and three grandchildren.
The chronology of Pastor Stroman's dedication to Christian Ministry began as Youth Fellowship Minister (1970-1973), Assistant to the Pastor (1973-1979), Acting Pastor (1979-1980) and Pastor (March 1980 to present).
Pastor Stroman is affiliated with the Missionary Baptist Minister's Conference of D.C. and vicinity and the Far Northeast Ministers Association. He has served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the D.C. Bible Institute, Board of Director of the Maple Spring Bible College and Seminary, a Lecturer at Howard University School of Divinity, and a member of many other Civic and Religious organizations.
Above, all Pastor Stroman is a preacher of the Gospel and remains faithful to the historic value of the Church; he truly loves the Lord and his word, and is serving his congregation and ministry with complete dedication.

Alston
Reverend Thomas Stanley Alston was born in Franklinton, North Carolina and raised both in North Carolina and the District of Columbia Bible. He was educated in the Public Schools of the District of Columbia and is a graduate of J. E. Spingarn High School, the Chaney University, the University of the District of Columbia and the Washington Bible College. He is currently employed by the United Planning Organization Project KEEN as the Program Coordinator of the Phillip T Johnson Senior Center.
Reverend Alston was licensed into the Gospel Ministry by the Baptist Church in January of 1974 and ordained by the same in June of 1980. Reverend Alston received the Lord Jesus Christ as a teen and has dedicated his life to spreading the Good News. He currently serves as Assistant To The Pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he has served since August of 1985. Tabernacle Baptist Church is where he received his early Christian training and foundation from his youth. Rev. Alston has also served as Assistant Pastor of the Evergreen Baptist Church, Academic Dean and instructor of Bible and Theology at the Evergreen Baptist Bible Institute and an instructor of Theology and Biblical Languages at the District of Columbia Bible Institute. He has also studied at the District of Columbia Bible Institute and the Institute In Basic Youth Conflicts.
Reverend Alston has received numerous awards including being selected for "Who's Who In American Junior Colleges", also receiving awards from the Fellowship of Christian Athletics, the Institute In Basic Youth Conflicts, the Metropolitan Police Boys & Girls Clubs, the Public Schools of the District of Columbia, and others. Reverend Alston is a citizen that is concerned with the community in which he lives and is involved serving as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for ANC 7C06, President of the Burrville Civic Association having membership in the Sixth District Citizens Advisory Council, He has also served as Chaplin of the D.C. Federation of Civic Association, on the Board of Directors of the Marshall Heights Community Development Organization the Metropolitan Police Chief’s of Police Citizens Advisory Council, he is also a member of the Missionary Baptist Ministers Conference and a life member of the N.A.A.C.P. He is a dedicated single man of GOD.
Rev. Thomas Smith
Reverend Thomas G. Smith was born in Washington, D.C. He was educated in the public schools and graduated from Spingarn High School. He received his BA in Sociology from Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. Following two years in the Army Mr. Smith returned to the city and was employed by the Department of Corrections. Upon receiving a diploma in Electronic Technology he joined the Potomac Electric Power Company where he was employed until his retirement in December, 2004. At present he is working as a counselor with the Salvation Army.
Reverend Smith is a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Washington, D.C., where he is a member of the Outreach Ministry and Superintendent of the Sunday School. He has traveled with Here's Life Washington, a division of Campus Crusade for Christ, on short mission trips to St. Vincent, Windward Islands. For several years he has served as a counselor with the Lott Carey Foreign Missions Youth Seminar at Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. Formerly he has served with the Aftercare Program of Prison Fellowship. He is presently enrolled in the Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham Maryland.
Reverend Smith was licensed to preach the gospel by his home church on January 12, 1997, and ordained on December 16, 2000.
In January of 2002 Reverend Smith was joined in marriage to the former Jacqueline Elaine Goodloe of Washington, D.C.
Rev. Maurice Watkins
Born in Washington DC. Attended DC Public Schools. Served 3 years in the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the USCG Cutter Rockaway, patrolling the North Atlantic 13 times making weather observations. Was married to the late Corrine Adams Watkins for 51 years. Fathered 5 daughters and 4 sons (one son deceased). Currently happily married to Margaret Lee Jordan Watkins.
April 1979: Joined Tabernacle Baptist Church.
1981-88: Member of the Deacon Board Ordained May 4, 1985. 1981 to date: Instructor, J. A. L. Washington Adult Bible Class. November 1988: Licensed to preach on the 4th Sunday. Installed as an Associate Minister.
Ordained July 2, 1994. Four year study of Old and New Testament off-campus courses provided by Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL.
1994 to date: Director, TBC Gospel Chorus.
Rev. L. Allen Bridges
Rev. Dr. L. Allen Bridges is A native of Raleigh. North Carolina. Rev. Dr. Bridges studied at Shaw University. Raleigh. N. C. Devry Institute of Electronic, Technology and Business (Deforest), Chicago, Ill He studied at the Washington School of Engineering Washington, D C.; USDA Graduate School. Washington. D.C. He studied at the Prince George’s Community College, Largo, Maryland, University of Maryland, College Park. Maryland. Rev. Bridges is a graduate of The Virginia Seminary, Lynchburg, Va. He is a graduate of the Graduate Realtor Institute of MD. Dr. Bridges also studied at the Seminary of the Apostles. Manchester. England. He has received and Associate of Science Civil Engineering Technology, a Bachelor of Theology and a master of Christian Education. He has earned and received a D. Mm. and S.Thd. (Dr. of Sacred Theology). Dr. Bridges has received a Doctor of Humane Letters from the Virginia Seminary.; a Dr. of Law from Southeastern University of the Virgin Island of the USA-Theological Seminary of South Carolina. Rev Dr. Bridges began his ministry as a preacher at the age of 12. Rev Dr. Bridges has served in the pastoral ministry since 1950. He served as pastor and in other ministries of the Church: Churches in North Carolina, Mississippi. Florida, Washington. D.C., Maryland and Virginia Rev Dr. Bridges served in the United States Air Force Assistant to the chaplain and an advance radar engineering specialist.
In 1958, he was appointed Civil Engineering Technician. USDA Forest Service, where he served for twenty-two years. Until he became a full time pastor, and a USDA Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor, a position he held for fourteen years.
In 1978 Res. Dr. Bridges became the Dean of Students and Director of Student Affairs, Virginia Seminary and College. Lvnchburg, VA. In 1979 he was appointed to the Lvnchburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority, as the Rehabilitation Housing and Building Specialist, a position he held until June 1986.
Rev. Dr Bridges in 1986 became a member of the Board of Trustees and co-founder of the New Hope Bible Crusade College and Seminary. Inc., Baltimore. MD. He was appointed Professor of Religious Studies (Old Testament, Christian Education and Church), and the Director of Public Relations. He was appointed President of the New Hope Bible Crusade College arid Seminary. Inc., in November 1989, following the death of the founder and president Reverend Dr Leonard E. Hicks He served as president and chief executive officer until his retirement in 2000. He was then appointed by the board of trustees of New Hope Bible Crusade College and Seminary. Inc., President emeritus for life.
Rev Dr. Bridges is also active in the Public Schools of Prince George’s County. MD and the environmental Justice Task Force of Prince George’s County, MD, has also served as a member of the board of directors of the ‘congress” of Civic Association of Southern Prince, MD, Big Brothers of America. Scout Master, Chaplain Civil Air Patrol, NAACP, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Counseling Association. Rev. Dr. Bridges is very active in the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Washington. D. C. of which he is a member. He is a member of the Pastoral staff Youth and a Young Adult Counselor; a member of the Board of Directors for the Tabernacle Child Development Center, and member of the Chancel Choir.
Rev. Dr Bridges is married to Dr. Elsie H. Bridges, and they have four sons, eight grandchildren. and two great-grandchildren.
Minister David Moore
Minister Moore was born in Washington DC, and educated in DC publicschools. He received Christ Jesus into his heart as a young boy and is theyoungest of 8 siblings- 5 sisters (the oldest Dorethia gone to be with theLord) and 3 brothers (the third oldest Leroy gone to be with the Lord). Hehas been a member here at Tabernacle practically all his life and grew upin Sunday school and the Youth Fellowship. He is currently employed byMedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
It was evident at a young age that God had his hands on young David’slife; known for being a young man of prayer Minister Moore loved to attendSunday school and Tuesday night prayer service with his mother. It wasduring a Tuesday night service where a young David “received the Lord’scall to preach” as he heard the Lord say I want you to preach My Word!
In May of 2000 under the leadership of his pastor Rev Dr. Stroman MinisterMoore preached his initial sermon and was licensed to preach the Gospel.Minister Moore's passion to reach the lost for Christ and take the Gospeloutside the four walls has been demonstrated over the years inhis evangelism/outreach ministry, in which he has taught at nursing homes,preached at shelters, and passed out tracts on the corner.
Minister Moore is active in the teaching ministry hear at Tabernacle andhas taught OT & NT survey classes at The Berean Baptist Church. MinisterMoore has served as Youth Minister here at Tabernacle and at CanaanChristian Fellowship Church. Minister Moore is a dynamic and powerfulpreacher of the Word!
Minister Moore has served in various ministries: Deacon-in-training; ChairYouth Fellowship Adult Council; Co-leader Evangelistic Outreach; Youth andYoung Adult Bible class teacher; New members Bible Orientation; Whileserving as Youth Minister at Canaan he was ordained to the office of Elderin Jan. 05.
Minister Moore loves the Lord, His Word, and His church; he continues topreach the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I Timothy 2:7 "For which I wasappointed a preacher".
